Home Training Troubleshooting Electro-Hydraulic Systems

May 14 - 15, 2025 8am - 4pm CST Troubleshooting Electro-Hydraulic Systems

Course Overview

This comprehensive training course is designed to provide participants with a strong understanding of electro-hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting techniques for common issues encountered in industrial and mobile applications. Through a structured curriculum, attendees will learn about fundamental hydro-mechanical concepts, actuators, feedback sensors, pumps, directional valves, valve amplifiers, and advanced troubleshooting methods. The course also covers electrical and hydraulic schematics, fault identification, and an introduction to Controller Area Networks (CAN).

Learning Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply fundamental hydro-mechanical concepts such as force-pressure and velocity-flow relationships.
  • Identify and troubleshoot common issues with actuators, sensors, pumps, and directional valves.
  • Interpret and analyze hydraulic and electrical schematics for diagnostic purposes.
  • Utilize troubleshooting techniques to differentiate between mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
  • Evaluate error codes and assess system failures effectively.
  • Understand the operation of valve amplifiers and their role in electro-hydraulic control systems.
  • Gain insights into Controller Area Networks (CAN) and their applications in electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Identify faulty components and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Target Audience

This course is ideal for maintenance technicians, engineers, and operators responsible for diagnosing and repairing electro-hydraulic systems in manufacturing, mobile machinery, or industrial applications. Participants will gain practical knowledge to effectively troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems.

Prerequisites

To maximize the learning experience, participants should have:

  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial or mobile machinery.
  • Prior experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, or system operations (recommended but not required).

In-Person or Online Learning

The in-person session will be held in the training facility at RFA Engineering, 12986 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55344.

Professional Development Hours (PDHs)
